The 16 volume Oxford English Dictionary

A life of ease
luxury harmony
& pleasure
When looking for a name for these beliefs and philosophy, I needed a word meaning "A life of ease luxury harmony & pleasure". The common or more usual spelling of Epicurean is with an e, which the 16 volume Oxford English Dictionary defines as:
  • One devoted to a life of ease, luxury and pleasure.
  • Of or pertaining to Epicurus, the ethics and philosophy taught by him.
  • One who makes pleasure the chief object of his life. So the only meaning missing from the definition of Epicurean is harmony. Harmony is the most important word of the four being essential to these beliefs. The 16 volume Oxford English Dictionary states that Epicurian ( spelt with an i ) is rarely used, rather than incorrectly spelt. So not wishing to invent a new word nor being able to find a better one, I decided to use the rare spelling of Epicurian with an i. So with apologies to the wordsmiths and dictionaries: Epicurian is defined as:

    Ease luxury harmony and pleasure.

When enough people use this spelling and meaning, then the dictionaries will be modified! - Anyway enough of symantics and dictionaries.

The purpose, aims and goals of the Epicurian Organisation is to change the laws, system and beliefs of society to give human beings worldwide a life of ease, luxury, harmony and pleasure: an epicurian life. The Epicurian Organisation encompasses several sections - fund raising, publicity, etc. of which the Epicurian Party is the political movement.
